Sandwiched between two seas, one Red, the other Dead, Jordan is a small country, three-quarters invaded by the desert, and for centuries solely populated by nomads.
And while the richness of its heritage gives Jordan the qualities of a “museum land” now part of our World Heritage, it is also a country grappling with the modern world, in constant movement. Long traditions of commerce and trading seem to have given its inhabitants an eternal serenity, as well as an innate sense of hospitality.
